Short Bio
Dr. Puneet Dwivedi is the Glenn’65 and Heather Hilliard Endowed Chair in Sustainable Forestry and Professor in the Department of Forestry and Environmental Conservation at Clemson University.
His interdisciplinary research integrates forest policy, economics, and sustainability to address contemporary challenges in natural resource management, with a focus on underserved forest landowners, forest-based ecosystem services, and forest-based products, including but not limited, to bioenergy products.
Prior to joining Clemson University, Dr. Dwivedi held academic appointments at the University of Georgia and postdoctoral positions at Yale University and the University of Illinois.
He holds a Ph.D. in Forest Policy and Economics from the University of Florida, an MBA in Forestry from the Indian Institute of Forest Management, and a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering.
Dr. Dwivedi has mentored over 30 graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, published more than 150 peer-reviewed articles, and secured over $8 million in external funding.
He serves on editorial boards of Global Change Biology Bioenergy. He is an Editor for Forest Policy and Economics, Trees, Forests and People, and Nature Scientific Reports.
He has been recognized with several awards, including the 2024 Sustainable Forestry Initiative Conservation Leadership Award.
He is committed to advancing inclusive, science-based solutions for sustainable forest management and frequently engages with landowners, agencies, and non-profits through workshops and outreach initiatives.
